The short answer
Yes. Your cat flies in the cabin with you, in a secure carrier for take-off, landing and turbulence. A quiet private cabin and your presence beside them make a big difference to a cat that dislikes noise and change.
Cats are creatures of routine and travel badly in the cargo holds and busy terminals of airline travel. A private flight avoids much of what stresses them: the crowds, the noise and the separation.
Preparing your cat
- Leave the carrier open at home for weeks beforehand so it smells familiar
- Put a worn T-shirt or blanket inside
- Cover the carrier with a light blanket during the flight
- Bring a small litter tray and waste bags
Paperwork
Cats generally need a microchip, a rabies vaccination and an official health document for the route. The details differ by country: see the pet travel rules, or read flying with your cat.
