The short answer
Often, yes, but speak to your vet first. Flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds can have breathing difficulties when they fly. A private cabin is calmer and cooler than an airline journey, and the flight can be planned around the weather and the time of day.
Bulldogs, pugs, French bulldogs, boxers, Boston terriers and Pekingese have short airways, which can make breathing harder when they are hot, stressed or excited. Many airlines refuse these breeds in the hold for that reason.
Why a private flight can suit them
- They stay with you in the cabin, where you can watch them the whole time
- The cabin is quieter and you control the temperature with the crew
- There is far less queuing, crowding and waiting than with an airline
- We can choose a cooler time of day and plan around the weather
What to do first
Ask your vet whether your dog is fit to fly and whether anything should be checked before you go. Keep your dog calm and cool, avoid a heavy meal just before the flight, and tell us the breed and any history when you enquire so the plan reflects it.
