The short answer
You pay for the aircraft and the route, not for the dog. On flights we have arranged, a two-hour hop to Spain or France on a light jet cost around £12,000 to £13,000 for the whole aircraft, and bigger aircraft and longer flights cost more. Vet costs and certificates are separate and are paid to your vet.
With an airline you pay a fee per pet. On a private charter you hire the whole aircraft, so the price is set by the aircraft, the distance and the airports. A pet does not usually add to it.
What decides the price
- The size of aircraft your pet and party need
- Flight time and the airports at each end
- The date: weekends, school holidays and events cost more
- One way or return
What is extra
- Your vet's fees for the microchip, vaccinations and health certificate
- Any government fee for the certificate
- Ground transport at either end

Ways to keep the cost down
Flexible dates, a return trip rather than two one-ways, and empty-leg flights on your route can all help. We will tell you honestly which is best.
