What the dog needs to go
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination
- A rabies vaccination at 12 weeks or older, then a wait of at least 21 full days
- A GB-issued Animal Health Certificate for the trip, signed by an official vet within 10 days of entering the EU
- Arrival through a designated travellers' point of entry

What France says
- France's ministry note says pets arriving from outside the EU are presented to customs on arrival, and the original health certificate is endorsed for onward EU travel
- Category 1 "attack" dogs cannot be imported, and category 2 dogs only with proof of pedigree
- A dog from a third country must have at least one adult tooth to enter
Coming home
Your dog needs a document to return to Great Britain (a GB-issued AHC covers the return for six months from issue, as long as the rabies vaccination stays valid), a tapeworm treatment 24 hours to 5 days before landing, and an arrival on an approved route.
